How to use Scrivener with Typst?

I was drafting a response when I saw your post, but I couldn’t manage to have a working version of Scrivener to make it work.

Some useful info though:

  • Scrivener is natively compatible with markup languages, which include Typst. See the Scrivener user guide. I recommend reading section [17.4.3 Styles for Authors Using Markup].
  • As for how to design a workflow for Typst, you need to create one from the ground up, I am not aware of any existing Typst compile format, although apparently someone provided a starter file.
  • I haven’t seen the word, but I believe what is needed here is a custom compile format for Typst, see [IV.24 The Compile Format Designer] and https://www.scrivenervirgin.com/2016/07/custom-formats-compiling
