Are there any translation tools available from LaTeX to Typst?

In literature writing , we often need to start from a template. Does Typst provide an inbuilt translation feature just for translating the template? It would be a great headstart than…

I used pandoc. It was able to convert most of my relatively math heavy paper from LaTex including matrices and heavy formulas. However, it was originally written as markdown + Latex formulas in $/$$. I’m not sure if it would manage to process pure TeX.

So I definitely suggest you to have a look. Also keep in mind that you would probably need to tweak a few parameters like newline handling and header numbering shift.

P.S.: Also make sure to use the most recent version!

…than what?

Do you mean conversion? There is a conversion from LaTeX available at https://typst.app, but it might just use Pandoc, which isn’t great, because it uses its internal representation to convert between formats, and it doesn’t include enough info to properly convert between the two formats. But it can do a lot of basic stuff. Though I tried it many months ago.

To be honest, it’s probably easier and faster to manually rewrite the template in Typst if it’s not too big. Otherwise I would actually try using Claude to help you with that, if you use LLMs. I assume if it knows enough about both languages, then it should succeed in converting from one to another.
