Is it possible to show some elements in preview, that say hidden in the exported pdf?
I’m thinking of ways to reference equations without having to label them manually. The problem is, their content may change, or their numbering may vary with other equations added/removed. So any kind of automatic labeling cannot rely on these. It seems like the best option would be encoding which is rather arbitrary (although implicit referral sounds like a cool task for an LLM). But then, well, it must be easy to identify an equation with an ID. So the natural progression is to display the IDs, but you surely don’t want it exported that way. And here we are.
Changing the visibility manually is also an option, although I like the “auto-export” Tinymist provides.
I’m 100% overthinking this, I don’t even write anything too important. Doing it mostly for fun at this point. But why not, I guess! This also cannot be the best way to do this, lol.
Different “export settings” for preview/export does seem like a pretty useful feature, though. There may be some “working data” you’d want shown in the preview, which needs not be on the exported version. Idk.
