Have the maintainers talked with Donald Knuth?

Hi

Does the maintainers have talked with Donald knuth?
I mean, maybe he could give some advice or problems that he knows

(if not too busy)

You might be interested in Laurenz’s blog post: TeX and Typst: Layout Models.

Yes thanks I already read it ^^

I was thinking not only problems about TeX issues but also problems in the environment around it

I completed my work on TeX, METAFONT, and Computer Modern many years ago, and I’m working full-time on quite different things these days.

Therefore, I am afraid that won’t happen.

Later he says:

After your submission has been certified, it will be put into a queue of things for me to look at, and I will study it in due time.

My understanding is, that’s only applicable to reporting mistakes in TeXbook, TeX, METAFONT, and other existing sources?

If I run across such a message that was misaddressed — I mean, if the message asks a question instead of reporting an error — I try not to get angry. I used to just throw all such sheets in the wastebasket. But now I save them for scratch paper, so that I can print test material for The Art of Computer Programming on the blank sides. I DO NOT ANSWER UNSOLICITED EMAILS, nor do I respond to emails that were sent to my colleagues with a bothersome request for them to communicate with me. Email is a no-no EXCEPT for reporting errors in books.

However, if you really send a mail, Knuth will “try not to be angry” with you. :joy:
