How to align conditions in cases to the right?

How to align conditions in cases to the right, just like it automatically happens in LaTeX?

$
  cal(T)[cal(R)] = cases(
    100(hat(sigma)_(ln cal(L))^2-hat(sigma)_"threshold"^2)^2 "if" hat(sigma)_(ln cal(L))^2 >= hat(sigma)_"threshold"^2,
    0 "else"
  )
$

Currently, it looks like this. The expected behaviour is that “else” should start immediately below the “if”.

Align with &:

$
  cal(T)[cal(R)] = cases(
    100(hat(sigma)_(ln cal(L))^2-hat(sigma)_"threshold"^2)^2 &"if" hat(sigma)_(ln cal(L))^2 >= hat(sigma)_"threshold"^2,
    0 &"else"
  )
$
