How to connect a Github Repository

Cannot synchronize my writing with my Github Repository.
Did the following:

  1. User: Settings: Connect to Github. => Works.
  2. Github: Created a new repository
  3. Project: Setting: Connect to Github Repository. Can choose the repository. But afterwards it is in one of the two states:
    a) Connected, but it is not syncing.
    b) Not Connected: Message:
    “Version control
This project is synchronized with a repository on GitHub
The person who made the connection to the repository no longer has access to the project (because they deleted their account, or left the team). You will need to disconnect and reconnect it with another account.”

The user is me, and I am not disconnected from my Github. Disconnected several times and re-connected as described.
But it is not yet working. Whether with my Github-Personal account nor with my Github-Organization. Tried both.

Has anyone got it working, who can explain how it works?

Hello, I’m part of the Typst team. First of all, sorry that Git integration doesn’t work well for you.
I would appreciate if you could explain what you mean by “not syncing” in more details. Have you pushed commits to your GitHub repository, but then clicking the “Pull” button in the web app does nothing? Or is it something else?
Also, can you tell whether it is more often in one of the two states you described? If a temporary connection error happens, the message you describe in the second situation can be shown, but if it is constantly present it may be caused by a deeper problem.
If you allow me to do so, I can access your personal data to further debug the issue.

Thanks, Ana. Obviously, this was a temporary issue on my Mac yesterday. Today I tried it again on my Windows Notebook, and it worked immediately. Don’t know what this was. We can close the issue. It works. Sorry for bothering you.

I am also facing this issue. I just purchased Typst pro to be able to do Git sync. I tried private repos with my organization and my personal account. Nothing works. It just keep throwing this error:

The person who made the connection to the repository no longer has access to the project (because they deleted their account, or left the team). You will need to disconnect and reconnect it with another account.

Does the repo have to be public for it to work?

Okay, so the issue mysteriously disappeared for me as well. I had tried using both Github and Gitlab, using different accounts. But the issue was not going away. I just had to close typst web app, and then re-open and refresh, and the issue was gone.

So, as Toby reported, the issue is not really a Mac or Windows issue, rather just refreshing the web app (but still a hit and miss). The Typst team should definitely look into it. I am not considering keeping my Typst Pro subscription.
