I’ve been writing my bachelor’s notes in Typst for a year now, and I intend to continue doing so well into my doctorate (even though I’m still years away from that). I’m currently merging all my subjects into a single master document, which is already nearly 300 pages long and will likely exceed 2000 pages in the future.
A document of this size, intended to be read for years to come, needs to be both beautiful and easy to read. I’ve done my best to adapt existing templates to my needs, but I feel the result falls short.
Would it be crazy to hire someone to create a custom template for me? How much could such work cost? Where can I find the right freelancer for Typst? Has anybody done something similar?
It’s not a crazy idea but you need to be specific with him/her about your expectations. If you have something in mind and it’s already a template or a package you want to use it, it will be faster/cheaper to reuse or replicte some idea.
For the costs is pretty dependent on the work they have to do. You always can ask for a “perfect” approach with 100 hours of work, but if you want to reuse something, adapt to an objetive template and you don’t expect they review your template 10 times after the initial work, maybe you can think about 10-20 hours of work.
I think on Discord you can post this idea and let them a contact to give them more details or directly post your requirements. I don’t know if here it is allowed (but here are less active people I think). Let’s see if a mod can give you a better suggestion about the channels.
