Hello there!
I have a bit of an issue with the way typst formats languages. I am from Switzerland, and frequently write reports and papers for university, which I have increasingly been using typst for. The Swiss variety of german has some subtle differences to classic german (high german) that typst can’t take into account, because it uses ISO language codes and many local language varieties like Swiss German don’t have their own ISO language codes. The subtle differences include things like there not being an “ß” (Eszett) in Swiss German, and quotation marks usually being in the « french » style, rather than the „ german “ style.
Now I was wondering if there is a way to customize whatever lang: "de"
is pointing to when it refers to "de"
, so at least minor things like quotation marks can be changed, or if there is maybe even a simple tag in lang
or quotes
that I’ve missed? I was also wondering if maybe I should open an issue on github about this. It would obviously be easiest if typst included regional language variant options, like maybe lang: "de:ch"
for swiss german, or lang: "de:au"
for austrian german.
