Oleafly: a free desktop editor for Typst, LaTeX and Markdown

Hi all,

I’ve been building Oleafly, a free, open-source desktop app for writing papers and theses in Typst. It handles LaTeX and Markdown too, but the Typst side is where most of my recent work has gone, so I wanted to show it here.

What it does for Typst:

  • Typst and Tinymist come bundled, so there’s nothing to set up. Each project can pin its own Typst version (0.11 to 0.15).
  • With auto compile on, one Typst process stays running and the PDF updates as you type. On Typst 0.13 or newer, click in the PDF to jump to the source, and back.
  • Browse Typst Universe from the toolbar, and keep a project’s packages in its folder so it still compiles offline or on another machine.
  • Cite straight from your local Zotero library.

No account, no sign-up, no tracking. There’s an AI assistant to help you fix any error or formatting, BYOK or use a CLI agent, power users may never need it, but it can run on a local model if you prefer privacy over speed.

It’s still a young project in beta. If you try it on your real Typst project, please tell me what’s missing that you think would be a good addition or if you bump into any issues, happy to send a fix your way. But I hope you all like it. Happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you all!

I’m tired boss. Can someone make a PR on GitHub - sermuns/days-since-last-typst-editor · GitHub?
