We are excited to publish the Release Candidate of Typst 0.12 today.
Typst 0.12 comes with multiple exciting new features. Here are just a few:
- Floating figures and placement across multiple columns
- Automatic line numbering
- Typst now uses all cores of your CPU. Together with other optimizations, documents now compile between 2-6x faster
- Highly reduced PDF sizes, PDF/A export, and Emoji in PDF
- Text show rules can now match across all text
- All equations can now break across pages
- Headings will no longer be orphaned at the end of pages
Now we need your help to ensure that Typst 0.12 is compatible with the widest possible range of documents, packages, and templates in use today. Please check out if the update has an impact on your work: As a web app user, you can open the settings panel of a project and choose βTypst 0.12 Testingβ as your compiler version, Rust users can install Typst 0.12.0-rc1
from Cargo. You can find the documentation for the Release Candidate on https://staging.typst.app/docs/.
If you are a regular user, you should check whether there are any unexpected bugs in your document that are not covered by the breaking changes in the changelog. As a package author, you should check whether your package triggers any new warning, particularly deprecations, and submit updates.
If you find any issues, you should report them to us as an issue on GitHub or in the feedback feature in the app, accessible everywhere from the Help menu.
We expect the final release of Typst 0.12 in the coming week or two, depending on the amount of feedback we get.
