Today, we are releasing Typst 0.12, an update that has been a long time in the making. We took the last six months to work not just on shiny things, but to move the core systems of Typst forward. A lot of this work bears fruit today: Typst 0.12 ships with long-requested layout features, improved PDF output, and even better performance. But more happened than is visible at the surface: We also laid important foundations for upcoming work on things like HTML output, accessible PDFs, and more powerful layout.
The release contains a few breaking changes, which might affect your documents. To learn more about the update and how you can migrate your documents to the new version, check out the announcement blog post: http://typst.app/blog/2024/typst-0.12/
We have also compiled a short video that showcases the most exciting new features: https://youtu.be/kSRZrFuUhCI
Web app projects use the new version automatically (unless you have pinned them to an older version). Command line users can use typst update
, download prebuilt binaries from GitHub, or install 0.12.0 from crates.io. For a full list of the changes in Typst 0.12, read the comprehensive changelog.
And finally: We plan to have another community call soon! You can join the “Community News” role on our Discord server to be notified once we have decided on a date.
