Please note that we are unaffiliated with the official Typst team, this is a separate organization.
Hey everyone,
The Typst Community organization has been around for two years now (since 2023!), working to support and grow Typst-related projects. Since the community’s grown a lot, we think it’s a good time to add another organization owner. Mainly for bus factor, but also just to help keep things running smoothly. After some discussion on Discord, it feels like the right move and the right time.
Nomination Requirements
- You should be regularly active and genuinely involved somewhere in the Typst community, not just popping in every once in a while or only asking for help. This could mean being active on the forums, Discord, or anywhere else Typst folks gather. Stuff like answering questions, maintaining projects, translating, or helping out in other ways all counts.
- Please follow the Code of Conduct for both our community and the Typst Discord.
Election Process
- This thread will be open for 4 weeks from 2025-06-17T20:00:00Z→2025-07-15T20:00:00Z.
- Only self-nominations: if you’re interested, just reply on the discussion (linked below) and tell us why you think you’d be a good administrator!
- After 4 weeks, whoever has the most +1 reactions on their nomination is elected.
- Feel free to ask nominees questions under their post if you want to know more about them or their plans.
Responsibilities
- Onboarding new members to the organization
- Facilitating project transfer requests
- Facilitating maintainership updates for all repositories when needed
- Handling org-level settings (like updating team permissions or GitHub settings)
- Moderating community spaces managed by the organization (e.g. discussions and issue trackers) and enforcing the CoC
- Reviewing and approving new repository proposals
- Acting as a point of contact for external collaborations or partnerships
- Helping resolve conflicts or disagreements within the community when they come up
If you have any other questions or want to chat privately, you can reach out by email at admin@typst.community, post on the Discussion Board or find us on the official Typst Discord in CONTRIBUTORS > forge > Community.
If you’re interested, please nominate yourself in the GitHub discussions thread in the typst-community organization.
