How would that be useful?

I find it more natural to type universe.typst.app into the address bar as opposed to typst.app/universe.

I think having more domain names will cost more. And I saw a few sites that changed/use path over subdomain, like https://maps.google.com redirects to https://google.com/maps. I don’t remember other examples.

If you have bookmarked them all, I don’t see any benefit. It’s literally like subdomain but on the other side and separated by forward slash instead of period.

I have definitely found myself typing docs.typst.app before, so I would not mind this addition…

this, and more importantly it enables autocompletion. like if you frequent the Universe a lot, you would be able to just type u and your browser would immediately suggest it. with the current path-based solution, this will not happen (or at least not as frequently and conveniently) and you’ll probably need to type out the whole thing.

subdomains, not domain names. subdomains are free.

i don’t, and i don’t see why i should

so, it’s not like a subdomain then

I can only speak for me, but my experience with navigating to universe is to type u, press arrow down to navigate to the first autocomplete result, and press enter. I have no convenience problems with the current situation.

Agreed on that point :stuck_out_tongue:

You literally want a more convenient access to the page. It’s literally what bookmarks are made for. Furthermore, aside from having bookmark, bar for quick access via cursor manipulator, in Firefox you can use * in the address bar to search exclusively your bookmarks. So, it’s most likely will be just *u<Enter>. Though, for my setup, the first line is DuckDuckGo search, so I’d have to use Tab or Arrow Down key at least once.

That’s a big “if”. This won’t work for everyone and also can change with search history. Too luck-based to be an actual reason, IMO.

“like” ≠ “is”

That * trick for Firefox bookmarks is actually a game changer - I didn’t know about that one. Even if they don’t end up adding more subdomains, using specific bookmarks definitely feels like the fastest workaround for now.

Subdomains don’t cost more, but they are operationally more complex than just paths. They also have some security and SEO implications. If we were to offer subdomains, these would redirect to the current URLs.
