What makes word wrap around image such a long to implement feature?

I know there are plans to implement something like this (or at least there were a couple of years ago):
3DF2B1B1-0C20-478C-871B-49AAAF780E94

As a non-technical person, I can see that the wrap-it plugin has to make some sacrifices to readability to make it work and so I know it is probably not trivial.

I was just hoping someone would be able to make an educated assessment as to whether it is a priorities thing or a technical thing or to what degree of each it is. It’s just a feature that I’m keen on, and I am wondering to what degree I should be hopeful for any time in the near future.

If any of the typst makers are reading this, I want to stress that this comes from a place of loving your product and wanting to use it for everything.

I think a big part of the technical difficulties were addressed in this PR for Typst 0.12. I guess the remaining work is largely a priorities thing… The devs have mentioned that it’s “definitely planned”, see the tracking issue here. In the meantime, you might enjoy a blog post by Laurenz that talks about this feature and the difficulties involved: TeX and Typst: Layout Models | Laurenz's Blog

The team did initially work on bringing this feature natively, but unfortunately it took longer to implement than expected and priorities have shifted since then, so it is currently not a priority. With that said, we’re aware this is a very important feature and hope to bring this feature sooner or later. No promises on when that might be, though (sorry!).
