since version 0.3.0 this is how it’s described in the readme, if you have suggestions of how to make it better, i’m all ears :)
Do refer to https://git-send-email.io for setting up the SMTP configuration correctly. You should just use your normal email-provider, as git won’t handle emails for you.

I am sorry. I feel I am unable to send you the mail via git, I suppose this process is not foreseen in my company and I don’t see how I could apply for it. 
by ‘your normal email provider’ I mean it can also be your personal email, like e.g. Gmail would work.
Am also happy to move this conversation to a different medium, as I think it’s not necessarily on topic :)
