I wrote my first post here, tagging it with the following optional tags: scripting
, rotate
, tables
and fonts
. For some reason, rotate
changed into placement
in the published post (it was rotate
when writing the draft, before publishing). Even when I tried to edit the post and change it back, it stays placement
. Is this a bug in Discourse? I would try and make another post for testing, but I don’t want to spam.
This is deliberate. I want tags to be a good place to subscribe to a topic, so I defined some aliases for the placement tag. This way, related functions are grouped together.
I see. I understand the reasoning, but without any indication that’s what’s happens, this violates the principle of least surprise (I for one didn’t expect it…). I’m not familiar with Discourse from the admin side, but I think it would be better UX if it’s possible to signal the user this happens, or leave the tags unchanged and make the aliases take effect only when searching (so that results for searching placement
include posts tagged rotate
).
I checked whether there is a CSS class or some markup that would allow me to quickly add a hint to the stylesheet, but there is not. See also this discussion in the thread where the synonym tag feature was added.
