I work on a package called mntkmt (still WIP¹ ; will release soon), which provides tools for automatic transliteration of Ancient Egyptian (Coptic and hieroglyphic scripts) and Old Nubian, and for conversion between encodings and transliteration schemes.
The above page is taken from the current, prerelease version of the manual. It shows two tables:
- the latter part of a table that shows how the Ancient Egyptian uniliterals are transliterated in different transliterated schemes, on the basis of the table given on this Wikipedia article.
- the first part of a table that compares how a given syntagm (written in hieroglyphs in the first row) is transcribed in each scheme.
The tables are produced programmatically, looping over the transliteration schemes and (in the case of the first table) the uniliterals. It is extremely easy to produce such tables (and code the conversion functions) with the friendly scripting capabilities of Typst. See the relevant code here.
The way the tables look is based on the booktabs
package for LaTeX.
¹ There seems to be at least one potential mistake in the table (the transliteration of 𓂋 in Schneider’s transliteration). This will be corrected in the released version.
